About Mazowe RDC

Mazowe Rural District Council (MRDC) was established in 1992 after the amalgamation of Mazowe, Mvurwi, Harare West Rural Councils and Chiweshe District Council. Mazowe RDC was established under the Rural District Councils Act 29:13 in 1992.

MRDC shares boundaries with Harare to its north, Goromonzi District to its south east, and Muzarabani to the north and Guruve to the north west. It was further divided into manageable sub offices, that is; Dandamera, Christon Bank, Tsungubvi, Chiweshe and Mvurwi. Mvurwi sub office was however; conferred a town status in February 2010 and separated from MRDC.

Mazowe RDC Overview

The administration of Mazowe RDC is a two-tier system of both elected officials and non-elected officials. The elected officials are councilors and non-elected officials are the executive. The elected officials are headed by the Council Chairperson while the executive is headed by the Chief Executive Officer. They all form a deliberate body which runs the affairs of the Council with the support of representatives from various wards in district made up of thirty-four wards. The operations of the Council are to ensure service provision in the areas of its jurisdiction.
